About the Project
Boutique Hotel in St. Louis, MO ▪ 39,000 sf ▪ 51 Keys ▪ 5 Stories & Basement ▪ Historic Adaptive Reuse ▪ Most Enhanced Award, Landmarks Association of St. Louis ▪ Keystone Award Finalist, American General Contractors St. Louis ▪ Development of the Year, City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Development Corporation
Daniela Grushevska served as the lead interior designer for the project, spearheading a transformative endeavor centered on the adaptive reuse of the former Morgens Brothers Cleaning & Dyeing Co into a 51-key boutique hotel. This comprehensive project involved the provision of architectural and interior design services, navigating the intricate process of historic submittals. The unique challenge emerged from the narrow footprint of the building, posing considerable complexities in designing the layout for the guestrooms. Faced with this challenge, the design team resorted to creating numerous unique unit types. To accommodate the non-standard dimensions and building conditions, custom casegoods were crafted, showcasing a tailored approach that seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetics.
Hotel Ignacio is the recipient of several awards upon its completion in 2011: Most Enhanced Award, Landmarks Association of St. Louis; Keystone Award Finalist, American General Contractors St. Louis; Development of the Year, City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Development Corporation. The project was completed during Daniela Grushevska’s employment at Lawrence Group and photographed by Aaron Bunse.
